Dream Blue Shrimps: Care Guide, Tank Setup, and Breeding Tips

Dream Blue Shrimps are a high-grade variety of Neocaridina davidi, prized for their rich, deep blue coloration. Unlike basic blue or carbon variations, Dream Blue shrimp feature a more solid and vibrant tone, making them a standout in planted tanks, especially against green backgrounds or black substrates.

These shrimp are adaptable and ideal for most aquarium conditions found across Pakistan. Proper cycling and stable water quality are key to long-term health.

Tank Setup:

Best suited for nano and planted aquariums, Dream Blue Shrimps thrive with mosses, driftwood, leaf litter, and gentle sponge filtration. Provide fine substrate, hiding areas, and avoid aggressive or predatory fish.

They can be kept in shrimp-only tanks or with peaceful fish like micro rasboras, ember tetras, and snails.

Feeding: Primarily algae and biofilm grazers, they help clean your tank naturally. Supplement their diet with shrimp-specific pellets, blanched vegetables (like spinach or zucchini), and spirulina-based wafers to promote healthy molting and vivid color.

Breeding: Dream Blue Shrimp breed easily in freshwater aquariums. Once a female is berried (carrying eggs), she will release shrimplets after 3–4 weeks. For higher survival rates, provide mossy cover and avoid fish that may eat the babies.

Compatibility: Compatible with other dwarf shrimp varieties, snails, and peaceful nano fish. Avoid cichlids, bettas, or any aggressive species. They do best in stable, low-stress environments with low to moderate flow.
